"What is Youth Group?" a student remarked the other day, just after I had said there were no "dumb" questions. Kids are often afraid to ask questions. It's not because they are not curious. It's not because they aren't interested. It's because of this great concern of what their peers will think. Well, here is the answer to her question, at least this is what we hope Youth Group will be at Christ Presbyterian Church.
Youth Group is a place to belong. It happens in space that the youth can own (the Youth room). We discuss faith, worship, pray, play games and well, eat. Youth Group is to be a group of friends. Young people of the same age range who enjoy and struggle with the same things.
Who can come to Youth Group? We limit the group to grades 6-12, but parents can come as well (be forewarned, you will probably be asked to help, teach, take a pie in the face, etc.). One important detail is that kids are encouraged to bring their friends. This is not an exclusive group. All are welcome.
CPC's Youth group meets on Sunday nights from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at 530 Tuscarawas W. in Downtown Canton, Ohio. The Youth Room is located at the top of the steps on the west end of the building.
