The Rev. David de Vries came to Christ Presbyterian Church in 2002 to serve as Senior Pastor and Head of Staff. He was born and raised on the northwest side of Detroit, Michigan and attended the Detroit public schools. Dave graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in Business Psychology. He immediately entered McCormick Theological Seminary at the University of Chicago where he received his Masters of Divinity in 1985. Rev. de Vries served for fourteen years as the Senior Associate Pastor at The Presbyterian Church of Traverse City, Michigan before moving to Natchez, Mississippi where he served as Head of Staff of the historic First Presbyterian Church.

Dave married Jeanne in 1993 and, together, they have two children. Zach and Ali both attend Plain Local elementary schools and both have picked up on their parent’s love for exercise and sports. Zach and Ali have a particular fondness of swimming. The entire family loves to read, watch movies and play outdoors. Vacation time finds them enjoying the woods, lakes and beaches of northern Michigan.

Though filled with “Buckeyes,“ the de Vries family has grown very fond of Canton, Ohio. When the de Vries family was looking to move, a dear friend, Jim Strawn, told them that Canton was “a great place to make a life and raise a family.” As Pastor Dave often says, “Jim was right!”

Pastor Wendy Bausman's roots are in Northeastern Pennsylvania where she grew up on a goat dairy. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Cedar Crest College, a woman's college, in Allentown, PA. She continued her education at Fuller Theological Seminary, Pasadena, CA, where she received her Master of Divinity Degree with a concentration in pastoral care and counseling. Pastor Wendy, who was an active duty Navy Chaplain for 15 years, also completed her Clinical Pastoral Education Residency at the Hampton Rhodes Residency Program, Virginia. Wendy's passions are being a mom to Amanda; traveling; pastoral care and preaching; empowering men and women in ministry; and assisting women with breast cancer and options for reconstruction.
