Our Beliefs

The Apostle Paul calls us to present our bodies "as living sacrifice" so that Christ might work a wonder within us.  "Be transformed," he writes.  He writes with urgency for the world has a powerful and attractive pull.  But we are to be different!  We are not to be conformed to the world.  We are to be people transformed by Christ.

The Foundation of Transformation

  1. We believe in one God, who is expressed as Creator (Father), Redeemer (Son), and Sustainer (Holy Spirit) of all creation, worthy of our worship.  God is without limits in power, presence, wisdom, mercy and love. (Deut. 6:4)
  2. We believe that the Bible is God’s story.  Through scripture God tells us who God is, how God has acted in history, and how God will act in the future.  We believe scripture is the authentic word of God and leads us to greater faith and intimacy with God.  (Psalm 119:100-110)
  3. We believe that, in the beginning, God made all things good.  Human beings were given the honor of bearing God’s image and caring for God’s creation.  However, human beings broke relationship with God and since then have lived in a broken and fallen world and stand in need of reconciliation with God.  (Psalm 51)
  4. To hear the good news of Jesus Christ is to hear of God’s redemptive love and grace.  We believe the Holy Spirit moves us to confront our sinfulness and to receive the forgiveness of sin and the new life borne out of the birth, ministry, suffering, death, resurrection and ascension of Christ Jesus.  (Romans 5:5-16)
  5. We proclaim that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior, by accepting Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we become adopted children of God, entering into an authentic and everlasting relationship with God the Father.  (Romans 8:10-20)
  6. Having embraced Jesus, we are called by God to surrender our lives and to grow towards spiritual maturity.  We believe the Holy Spirit is at work guiding, counseling, comforting and sustaining us as we are transformed into the likeness of Christ.  (Ephesians 4:11-16).
  7. Believers are called to live together in faith communities.  Sharing our individual spiritual gifts we join together to glorify God through worship, prayer, discipleship, service and mission.
  8. Blessed by God, we seek to be a blessing to others throughout the world.  Led by God, we work that others may know Christ, love Christ, confess Christ and serve Christ.  Empowered by the Holy Spirit, we work to make his kingdom of peace and justice real to all people everywhere.  (Ephesians 17-2:22 & Matthew 25)
  9. We live knowing the Kingdom of God has begun yet remains unfinished.  “In God’s time, Christ will come again to judge and rule a new heaven and a new earth.”  Rev. 21:1-3)

There remain many mysteries.  This we proclaim:  “In life, and in death, we belong to God . . . And we rejoice that nothing in life or in death can separate us from the love of God in Christ our Lord.”
